Because I love what I do
I was born in Denver, Colorado and was raised in southern California. I am fortunate enough to say that I was raised in a very creative and open-minded environment which ultimately led to me starting my first small business venture. When I was a young boy around the age of 8 years old I decided to start a "company". Now do keep in mind at the time I was only 8 years old had absolutely no professional knowledge on where to start or what to aim for, the only thing I had was a great idea and the drive to succeed and make a difference (even if the difference was simply making people happy).
Skateboarding was a hobby I often enjoyed. I always wanted to take my skills to the next level. One day after skateboarding for a few hours on a new skate rail that my friend and I set up I noticed that when I was board sliding the rail it still gave quite a bit of resistance which slowed me down and led to more falls and bail outs. I had to keep applying more and more skate wax to the rail in order to keep the skateboard sliding at a consistent speed. Then the idea came to me! I said to myself "humm... I know bar soap has a wax like texture and might help with board sliding on the rail, because after all I know soap can be slippery." After having those initial thoughts I immediately ran into the house and unwrapped a new bar of Irish spring bar soap and began applying it directly to the metal skate rail.
After applying a generous amount of the bar soap to the rail I tested it with a board slide at a comfortable and familiar speed. As soon as I made contact with the rail I could feel how much smoother and faster my board slide was. Using the bar soap increased my speed at least 3X. After a long day of skating I decided that I should let my friends know about this technique. Then I was hit with another idea! If all my friends like this then I might be able to make money from selling it. But then I thought; I can't just sell a bar of soap to my friends since they more than likely already have some at home. I should instead find a way to make it unique and something my friends would want. This thought triggered me to start my own product. I then began to melt the bar soap and wax together, after the mix was done melting/mixing together I emptied it into a cupcake pan and placed it in the freezer to harden. After the mix solidified I popped them out of the trays and placed a label with the price on top of the soap/wax mixture which was then covered in clear plastic wrap. I began selling these to friends and acquaintances and noticed quite a few different factors which were either helping or not helping my sales. I took these thoughts into consideration and then began writing my plans which were essentially a business plan. I outlined how much it cost to produce the product, who my target audience is, pricing structures, and more. This was all done at the early age of 8 years old.
To this day I still have the same entrepreneur mindset and drive which led me to start my first sole proprietorship in 2005 which was aimed at the Mobile Computer Repair industry. This company was founded to provide commercial and residential clients with an affordable and personable computer repair service. After a number of successful years in the computer repair industry I decided to switch my main focus to website design, graphic design, search engine optimization, software development, and internet marketing. The reason behind this switch is because the computer repair industry has not only become saturated with tons untrained low cost freelancers but also because I enjoy website design, graphic design, SEO, software development and internet marketing much more than the computer repair industry. This change resulted in me establishing my first company which aimed solely at the website design, seo, software development and internet marketing industry.
Since then I decided to merge the best of both worlds and offer my services under one roof and under one name, JayGentile.com. This way I am able to provide people with a simple go-to company that handles all of their Internet marketing needs and desires, whether it's Online or off-line. I specialize in a variety of different services including website development, graphic design, search engine optimization, custom software development, and private consultation services which all help to increase traffic, revenue, and leads to your business/service.
